“All My Relations” is a Nordic-style Live Action Role Playing game (LARP) where players embody the living relations of a recently dead matriarch. Inspired by black American mourning and funerary traditions, players gather at a repast/repass—the reunion meal typically held directly after a funeral—to co-create the complex relationships (both individual and collective) we often encounter around loss and death. Celebrating the richness of grief in all its forms—from laughter and jubilation, to sorrow and fear—“All my Relations” invites players to embrace the messiness of grief through play, and to recognize joy and loss as reflections rather than opposites.
How it Came to Life
The first play through of “All My Relations” launched in Brooklyn, New York, on November 24, 2024.
The game is currently in development for a new extended production in early 2026!
